Bringing Chinese Medicine back to life.
Wednesday, June 27th, 2007There are many approaches to healing. I would like to focus on Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine believes in recovering health, it believes in your body and it believes that nature is on your side. Is it always possible to regain our health to an optimal state? probably not. We can however, do our best to get as healthy as it possibly can be. If you had western fertility treatments so far, did you ever hear any of the following:
1. You are too old.
2. Your egg quality is too poor.
3. Your FSH is too high.
4. Your only option is donor egg.
Maybe 90% of the patients that I see have been told one or more of the above. Why is it then that many of the patients, who come into my office, get pregnant naturally with the Hunyuan method? Did something change with their age? egg quality? FSH? I think that their health just got better, which made everything else better. Why is it then that many patients undergo fertility drugs and shortly thereafter their FSH goes high, or that they get cysts, or that they gain weight, or that they feel sick. This is absolutely not “getting healthy”. If anything it is a deteriorating health.
Is infertility treatment in Chinese medicine the same as Western medicine? I don’t think so. The difference is described above: Chinese Medicine believes in becoming healthy to allow a pregnancy.
Chinese medicine is so powerful. It can make unhealthy people healthy again and while doing that it can make infertile people fertile again, and all with great grace and purity. Why, then, are most acupuncturists excited about the acupuncture for IVF and not about the Chinese medicine for natural conception? I think, in general, today’s success rate of natural conception with Chinese medicine is low. What do we have to do to raise the success rate of natural conception? We, acupuncturists, have to know Chinese medicine well. How do we do that? We research the Chinese medicine classics. These classics, to a large extent, have no English translations. We therefor must spend the necessary time in learning classical Chinese language and few years more to research these classics. I am afraid that most of us don’t have the time and the will to do it. That is why natural conception rates with Chinese medicine is low when compared to western treatments. I have spent thousands of hours learning Chinese language and the Chinese medicine classics and that is why the Hunyuan method success rates do not fall below Western reproductive endocrinology rates. On the contrary, all patients who get pregnant naturally in my office tell remarkable stories of success.
What should we do as acupuncturists? should we give up on Chinese medicine and start practicing Western medicine? Should we do acupuncture for IVF and call it Chinese medicine? or should we try to get better in Chinese medicine, help many patients as possible with natural conception and bring the Chinese medicine back to life?
I have created the Hunyuan method exactly for that. So far there have been scores of patients who conceived naturally with my method after Western medicine gave up on them. I hope other acupuncturists will follow through and bring the Chinese medicine back to life.
